About The Tottenville Historical Society

Welcome

Schooner J. SimonsonThe Tottenville Historical Society, a non-profit corporation, was founded in 2003 and chartered in June 2005 by the New York State Education Department Board of Regents. The mission of the Society is carried out by a dedicated volunteer Board of Trustees, with participation from more than 350 members located all over the United States.

Our website was created to share with you some of the events, people and places of the past through documented information and images that are part of our collections.  We hope you enjoy the site, and that you will check back often.  This website, along with our newsletters, exhibits and programs, not only serve to educate, but also to foster an appreciation of our town's heritage.

Contact us today, and let us know how you can help to make sure the history of Tottenville and its people will be recorded for generations to come.

Searching for a Permanent Home

One of the Society's greatest challenges is finding a permanent home, preferably a building of historical significance that will adequately and securely house the Society's collections, serve as a public museum, be conveniently and centrally located in Tottenville, and meet a small budget. The Society continues to appeal to the public to consider making a charitable bequest for that purpose.

Our office and collections are currently located in the Hungarian Reformed Church, 19 Winant Place, in nearby Charleston.
