History's Mysteries

Occasionally we receive a photograph and can't identify the person (or people) or the location.  We are appealing to you for help!  If you can provide any information about the following image(s), please write to us at .  Thank you!

Image #1:

Amboy Road

Sign reads:  Service Men's Community Club

Q:  Does this building look familiar?

A:  "The old building pic #1 in the history's mysteries section "Service Men's Community Club" appears to be the house at the intersection of Craig Avenue and Amboy Road.  Andy....."

Thanks, Andy.  We have studied these 2 buildings and have concluded they are not the same based on several factors including placment of windows, style of roof, and the right-sloping grade of the road (Amboy Road slopes toward the water to the left.).  Hmmm......perhaps this house is located in Perth Amboy??

Image #3:

Main St. A&P

This photo, circa 1960s, was taken inside the A&P located on Main St.
Q:  Does anybody recognize this man?

A: I believe the gentleman in the A&P photo is Charley DiNapoli. My stepfather Lou Manzione was the manager of that store during the fifties and sixties.  I could be mistaken after all these years but it sure looks like him. (Sent in by Thomas Tyrrell. )
